When the last gate locked at the Zoo one night, And the zoo keeper called it a day, And the moon rose high, And the crickets chirped, All the beasts came out to play.
Oh, the elephant new how to blow a horn, And the lions could sing just fine, And the monkeys served up Some delicious treats While a gator poured the wine.
So the party raged for the beasts uncaged, Till they almost saw the dawn, Then they called it a night, And swept up the debris, And let out a happy yawn.
If you ever slip out of the house at night, And sneak up to the gates of the zoo, You might see a flicker, Or hear the faint jazz, Of a partying, wild crew.
